April 13, 2015 Pinching Baby Peaches

Yes! in the poor man’s garden grow,
Far more than herbs and flowers,
Kind thoughts, contentment, peace of mind,
And joy for weary hours.
-Mary Howitt
Dear Friends,
Well, with all the spring chores to be done (like yesterday), finally got around to thinning out the clusters of peaches on our trees.  If you leave too many of them on the stems, they’ll be too small and damaged and what we want are the larger sizes, plump and full of flavor.  From here we just have to be patient.  There’s nothing like a ripe peach falling in your hand as you barely touch it!  Ah.
Good ingredients this week.  The only thing you might be ‘new’ to, although you’ve probably had it in fancy restaurant salads is the radicchio.  So here are some tips and ideas to enjoy this favored Italian food:
Did you see the news on the Corgi event at Huntington Beach last Saturday?
We’re having our own version this Saturday when the San Diego Corgi Meetup is coming to the farm.  Should be fun.  Here’s a short video of one we had here awhile back

May you enjoy and utilize all your items for this week.  If you need suggestions for use or recipes on any of your items, feel free to email me and I’ll help.
