August 15, 2016 Hot Enough?
If I had to choose just one plant for the whole herb garden, I should be content with basil.

Dear Friends,
Today will be another hot one. Good for tomatoes, cucumbers, squashes, basil and busy bees.
Last week, everyone received Genovese basil and I made pesto only this time with ground hazelnuts (sometimes will use sunflower seeds as pine nuts are so expensive) and it was delicious! Be adventurous. This week is purple basil and with this weather, you might want to try this refreshing iced refreshment:
Broccolini is finally in, giving all the nutritional benefits of broccoli with subtle differences. I’ve grilled, baked, roasted and steamed it and this is one of my favorite ways to prepare. Although this particular recipe calls for turning on the stove, it’s good served room temperature so could be made early in the day for later.
A heart felt thank you to the generous shareholder that is sponsoring a share to a local military family. They were over joyed as they had a new baby and did so want to make their own baby food. So appreciated.
Call or email me if you need cooking tips. Happy to oblige.
