February 1, 2016 Wild and Crazy!

Dear Friends,
It’s about 3pm on Sunday afternoon and I’ve torn myself away from experiencing this glorious windy rainy storm to dash off this weekly note.  We pumped water from the first wave of rain out of the storage barrels to deep water the fruit trees, had 3 hours of marvelous working conditions digging trenches to direct the rain and best of all, being able to pull weeds sprouted from the rain 3 weeks ago.  It’s a little perverse the satisfaction felt in clearing an area of dead beat weeds doing nothing but depleting resources.  Sweet victory.  The chickens, goats and of course corgi’s are comfortably tucked away but the ducks are in 7th heaven with the puddles and the yummy treats their bills are filtering through the mud.  Life is somehow simpler when seen through the eyes of animals (those well tended of course).
Thank you so much for the notes on last weeks deliveries.  Yes, the items list was off but seems the simple spring bouquets, the sweet turnips and the slit peas were a hit.  I like it when shareholders are happy.
The wind right now is almost a little scary.  It’s hitting us in strong gusts and I can hear tree parts breaking up.  75 year old trees around us are bending dramatically.  I’m off to go walk the farm and check for damage.
Call or email me if you need cooking tips.  Happy to oblige.
