Dear Friends,
Another wonderful rainstorm over the weekend giving us about an inch or so of water and lots of excitement. We’re surrounded now by verdant green in the growing grounds as well as the hills around. It’s lovely and the beginning of our spring flower season. So much to look forward to.
This coming Friday is designated CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) Day 2017 and we’re asking you help share the importance of community farms to your friends, family and associates. The link is:
Now on to enjoying our CSA items for the week.
We’re so pleased with our crop of Nordic spinach this round. Although it might need an extra rinsing, it’s sweet flavor and versatility more than makes up for it. Try in sandwiches, salads or lightly stir-fried.
Asparagus…what fans we are. It’s one of the first spring crops thrusting boldly straight from the leafless roots in the ground full of life and vigor. Very nutritious and versatile we hope you enjoy. It’s delicious either baked or steamed. Here are some ideas:
We’ve a fresh batch of our incredible local honey this morning. Be sure to restock or try this favorite of ours. Local honey is touted for warding off colds and buffering against allergies and it’s just plain good.
Happy cooking and enjoy February in San Diego.
