July 13, 2015 Flowers and Honey

Dear Friends,
Flowers are important on a farm.  A real farm, in the ‘old-fashioned’ sense where people, crops and animals are entwined with each other on a piece of land.  Not only for their scent and beauty but utilitarian reasons too. They provide food and shelter for the myriad of beneficial insects that are necessary for a healthy eco-system and their nectar is what attracts the native bees that makes honey.
Fresh, local honey has many health benefits aside from being delicious. Among them are help with allergies, an all-natural energy source, memory booster, cough suppressant, sleeping aid and used in treating wounds and burns to name a few.  We have a new batch of fresh and delicious honey available right now on our Green Store in limited quantities.  We call it Amber Gold!
It’s still basil season and some of you are additionally receiving French Sorrel.  Here’s a favorite recipe in our kitchen you might like to try using either basil or sorrel.
It’s easy and fast to add items from the Green Store if you need eggs, coffee, cooking oil or additional fruits and vegetables.  We’re here to help make your meals easier for you.
May you enjoy and utilize all your items for this week.  If you need suggestions for use or recipes on any of your items, feel free to email me and I’ll help.
