April 29, 2019 Where Would We Be? Volume 1,629

The biggest thing you can do is understand that every time you’re going to the grocery store, you’re voting with your dollars. Support your farmers’ market. Support local food. Really learn to cook.
– Alice Waters
Dear Friends,
Where would we be without bees? These incredible little creatures flourish here at the farm. Besides our trees and shrubbery there are literally thousands of flowers blooming right now and the fields and gardens shimmer with the the movement of bees busily collecting the pollen for the hive. Try seeing this in a commercial mono-culture ‘crop’ of any kind. People often ask me ‘what do you do about the bugs?’ and my answer is simple..”which ones”? When you have an environment as complex and diverse as Seabreeze, there really isn’t an opportunity for any one species of destructive bugs to take hold. Oh, I take that back..except for the massive colonies of Argentine ants that have taken over the world! Dreadful tortuous things!
So for all the little creatures and flora that live here, we thank you our customers for supporting this little ecology center and all the life forms in it that we protect. There’s no other place like it that I’ve ever seen.
Happy cooking.
Flowers are a wonderful gift for friends, family or associates. We’d be happy to include an extra bouquet or two to your deliveries. They’re available through the Green Store or drop me a line and we’ll include them for you.
If you would like to help support the farm and our work,
please consider signing up for our Hungry Heroes program that donates to appreciative San Diego military families or through Produce for Patriots, the non-profit founded by one of our clients, Rob M.
You’ll receive a personal Thank You note from the family that receives.
It’s a good thing all ’round.
Here’s to good food, friends, families and helping others.
Call or email me if you have any questions or need cooking tips.
