Dear Friends,
Here we are with only 10 days left in August. Days are getting shorter, it’s darker later in the morning and a sure sign of fall are the golden orb spiders you might be noticing spinning their intricate webs – sometimes in most inconvenient places. The farm is full of life from the unknown number of invisible life forms in the soil, the tiny bugs that swarm the air, to the majestic sunflowers that embrace the sun. I have numerous conversations in my head with you, our shareholders, many of them wishing you could see all the miracles of life on this farm and thinking of the food we’ll be sending you. Can a corporate computer controlled ‘farm’ say the same? I don’t think so.
Last couple of weeks we sent green and then red basil. This week is another of our favorites, salad burnet. Looks a little like cilantro but has a wonderful mild cucumber flavor. It’s very versatile for ingredients in salads, soups, smoothies or in sandwiches. Here are some more ideas for you:
Call or email me if you need cooking tips. Happy to oblige.
