Falling for autumn flowers

November 4, 2019
Volume 1,654
It gives you a good feeling. Each year, you rediscover in a garden the magic of life. A flower arrives, and it is a miracle. The leaves fall in the autumn, and it looks fantastic. There is a tenderness about a garden, and you can’t help but be sensitive to that.

Dear Friends,
Check out these brilliant bundles of Mexican sage and flat-topped fragrant asters that Marisol and I harvested as one of your types of flowers for the week! She and a blessed small group of other shareholders come on Saturday mornings to help with the harvesting. So grateful. Want to join us for a pleasant couple of hours on a Saturday morning outside and among the crops for the week? You are always welcome. Just let me know.
Someone asked me last week about Elsa, one of our goats. She’s such a character and this other photo is of a new friend she met this past week. She’s 15 yrs old now and as lovable as ever. She’d live in the house if we let her!
Enjoy your fresh veggies for the week…and take a nice autumn walk when you can.
We know many of our subscribers are enthusiastic about getting freshly harvested food from Seabreeze Family Farm. Please take a photo of a plate you prepared with your farm share and post it on our Facebook page and on Next Door. We’d love for your friends and neighbors to see how they could benefit from your neighborhood’s locally grown food. We look forward to seeing how you transform your Seabreeze ingredients!
If you would like to help support the farm and our work, please consider signing up for our Hungry Heroes program that donates to appreciative San Diego military families or through Produce for Patriots, the non-profit founded by one of our clients, Rob M. You’ll receive a personal Thank You note from the family that receives. It’s a good thing all ’round.
Here’s to good food, friends, families and helping others. Call or email me if you have any questions or need cooking tips. May our food this week nourish, comfort and sustain you.
Stephenie
