If it came from a plant, eat it; if it was made in plant, don’t.
Michael Pollan

Dear Friends,
It’s been an extra busy week on the farm.  We finally kind of got most things back in order this week from the storms and now we’re ready for more rain.  The goats, Elsa and Beatrice are happy.  We’ve been working on opening up an area we took out of production when the water cutbacks started and have been using the space for composting.  We took down fencing, made repairs and put in gates and access so they have plenty of room to romp and find new things to eat.  We take them with us on walks out the south gate when time permits but this remodel will keep them happy if we can’t.
Winter vegetables are full of good nutrition to get us healthily through shorter days and the ‘sick’ months.  Carrots, kohlrabi, cabbage, parsnips, potatoes, yams – you get the idea.  Here is another one, acorn squash.  Not quite as sweet as some of the others but very versatile.  I’ve made many of the recipes on this website and feel sure you’ll find one or two that catches your eye.
Thank you for the nice messages about the black-eyed peas.  I’m glad you enjoyed them and they brought back memories.
