Dear Friends,
Wasn’t last week something with our weather and rains? The growing beds just soaked up the moisture (giving us a break from water bills) and of course, the weeds are going nuts! And then Saturday came this group of wonderful Marine families to help. And help they did. Piles of pesky weeds now ready for the compost pile to produce the nutrients to feed the crops you eat! Thank you to Ashley for organizing. We thoroughly enjoyed the children, the youthful energy and great attitudes.
Seems like there’s an awful lot of people with colds and an awful flu going around. Remember Linus Pauling, the scientist that advocated Vitamin C? He promoted ‘large’ doses of it even though it was a water soluble vitamin to ward off colds and more. And wouldn’t you know it, Nature’s cycle of crops in giving us the citrus family – oranges, tangerines, grapefruit, etc that is one of the best sources for it. So juice up, knowing you’re giving yourself and your family the best natural protection you have..and they’re so good.
If you would like to help support the farm and our work, please consider signing up for our Hungry Heroes program
that donates to appreciative San Diego military families or through Produce for Patriots
the non-profit founded by one of our clients, Rob M.
You’ll receive a personal Thank You note from the family that receives.
It’s a good thing all ’round.
Here’s to good food, friends, families and helping others.
Call or email me if you have any questions or need cooking tips.
May our food this week nourish, comfort and sustain you.
