July 23, 2018 Stay Cool!

“America is hope. It is compassion. It is excellence. It is valor.”
 — Paul Tsongas
Dear Friends,
This photo is of some of the family members of three of the military families that receive the donations from you all from the farm.  They came to help harvest miniature roses and lavender for a couple of hours and the children had such a good time.
This Friday we’ll be hosting a class of visually impaired students for a tour.  I’m quite excited about being able to share the farm sensory experiences that surround us every day.
This week we’re including something called lemon verbena.  It smells heavenly and just seep in hot water and then make a cooling and refreshing iced tea (or let it dry and use later for a hot drink) that’ll help get through these next hot days.  Head for the shade!
Oh, and do make pesto with the basil.  It’s so easy and you can freeze it too.
A hearty thank you to our little band of helpers:  Andres, Marisol, Jessica.  And of course to our shareholders and financial supporters that help keep us going.  We do good things here!
Here’s to good food, friends, families and helping others.
Call or email me if you have questions or need cooking tips.
May our food this week nourish, comfort and sustain you.
Stephenie
