June 6, 2016 Darn Critters!

“Harmony with land is like harmony with a friend; you cannot cherish his right hand and chop off his left. That is to say, you cannot love game and hate predators; you cannot conserve the waters and waste the ranges; you cannot build the forest and mine the farm. The land is one organism.”

– Ibid.

Dear Friends,
We haven’t had one of these little creatures raiding the gardens in a long time.  I’ve been hearing from people about rabbits and squirrels being so bad this year and it’s been just awful here.  Shamelessly brazen, especially the squirrels, they raid us in broad day light.
So we’re happy for the crops we’re able to harvest and know we’re still producing the freshest and most nutritious possible.  I tell people there’s about 20 things that want to eat the food before we can get it to you although this year may up that figure!
Swiss chard remains one of our all time favorites.  If you can spare a little white wine, this one is delicious.
                            Easy and Yummy Swiss Chard
Hope you’re enjoying and benefiting from your deliveries.  A lot of old fashioned hard work and planning makes it possible.  And grown with love and care..of course.
Call or email me if you need cooking tips.  Happy to oblige.
