Dear Friends,
We love our ‘dirt’. This wonderful year of rain has replenished the farm in so many ways. All the trees and permanent plantings have soaked up the moisture and are budding out of their dormancy, the fruit trees are blooming, the monarch butterflies are hatching and the flowers are bursting out all over. Thank you so much to our shareholders for the nice notes about the bouquets. and they’re just going to get better and more varied. Some people think they’re a ‘luxury’ but they’re so important for the over all health of our little farm as they help support eco-systems we can’t even see.
Flowers are a wonderful gift for friends, family or associates. We’d be happy to include an extra bouquet or two to your deliveries. They’re available through the Green Store or drop me a line and we’ll include them for you.
This week we harvested one of our favorite vegetables..Napa cabbage. It has a mild and nutritious flavor and is great either raw or cooked. We like it stir fried with a lilttle peanut oil, ginger and garlic.
If you would like to help support the farm and our work,
please consider signing up for our Hungry Heroes program that donates to appreciative San Diego military families or through Produce for Patriots, the non-profit founded by one of our clients, Rob M.
You’ll receive a personal Thank You note from the family that receives.
It’s a good thing all ’round.
Here’s to good food, friends, families and helping others.
Call or email me if you have any questions or need cooking tips.
May our food this week nourish, comfort and sustain you.
