“Though snails are exceedingly slow,
There is one thing I’d like to know.
If I out run ’em round the yard,
How come they beat me to the chard?”
– Allen Klein
Dear Friends,
It’s still pretty much happy days at the farm with moisture in the ground and cloud cover so working conditions are still pretty good. For the most part, I present a positive slant on things however, there’s a rant coming. And yes, it has to do with ‘unauthorized reproduction’. They say for every cloud there’s a silver lining and the opposite is true too – for every inch of rain there are repercussions. It comes in the form of blooms of life forms that just adore our chemical free land. Fellow gardeners will understand when I say that wresting food and flowers from the earth is a battlefield!
Here’s a partial list:-rabbits, squirrels, gophers, voles, raccoons, skunks, black and brown widow spiders, aphids, plant fungus, snails, slugs, raccoons, skunks, lots of snakes (good and ‘bad’) and weeds…back breaking soul tormenting weeds..invasive, sneaky, pervasive and overwhelming. So back on goes my hat and gloves..there are battles to be won!
Flowers are a wonderful gift for friends, family or associates. We’d be happy to include an extra bouquet or two to your deliveries. They’re available through the Green Store or drop me a line and we’ll include them for you.
Thank you for all for your support. As the last little farm in the whole area, sometimes we feel like the little Dutch boy with his finger in the dyke holding back catastrophe. We remain stalwart.
Happy cooking and smelling the flowers!
If you would like to help support the farm and our work,

You’ll receive a personal Thank You note from the family that receives.
It’s a good thing all ’round.
Here’s to good food, friends, families and helping others.
Call or email me if you have any questions or need cooking tips.
