September 5, 2016 Time to Prune

“Did you hear about the rose that grew from a crack in the concrete? Proving nature’s laws wrong, it learned to walk without having feet. Funny, it seems to by keeping its dreams; it learned to breathe fresh air. Long live the rose that grew from concrete when no one else ever cared.”

Dear Friends,
Daylight is less each day and the leaves on the poplar tree are starting to turn yellow.  There’s still plenty to do before the shorter days and lightly pruning the roses is on the list.  With a little bit of good worm compost mixed in, should still have fresh new blooms for a couple of month.  And if you have roses, here are some nice recipes  for skin uses.
                                 Herbal recipes for roses
Looking at our ingredients for this week, I’m planning on doing a dish with the mushrooms and bell peppers.  This one is an old standby and easily modified for additional recipes:
                              Mushroom and bell pepper pasta
This next recipe (and variations) goes well with the pasta dish:

                                      Swiss chard salad
Or, fire up the barbie and grill them with the corn.

Call or email me if you need cooking tips.  Happy to oblige.
