Dear Friends,
Yes, these were some of our turkeys we raised and no, they didn’t end up on a plate. They were so fun to raise from chicks. They especially adored Kendall, my husband, and would follow him down the road to the mailbox or want to sit on his chair or lap when he sat down. They’d fly up into the trees at night, like our peacocks used to, to be safe for the night. Good memories.
I think I speak for many of us. The holidays are for gatherings, being with loved ones and of course, lots of good food and a whole lot of work in the middle of the week! Shorter days and cooler nights make for adjustments and the one we are looking forward to is some rain!
Please remember your persimmons are the ones that are wonderful when they are soft (kind of like avocados) because if you bite into a firm one, you’ll pucker up.
Please remember that this week only:
Wednesday deliveries will be on schedule and Thursday deliveries will be made on Tuesday.
If you have any special requests, let me know. We’ll see if we have or can source for you.
If you would like to help support the farm and our work, please consider signing up for our Hungry Heroes program (click here for more information) that donates to appreciative San Diego military families or through Produce for Patriots ( click here for more information), the non-profit founded by one of our clients, Rob M. And you’ll receive a personal Thank You note from the family that receives. It’s a good thing all ’round.
Here’s to good food, friends, families and helping others.
Call or email me if you have questions or need cooking tips.
May our food this week nourish, comfort and sustain you.
